HISTORY

Britannia Lodge is a family owned and operated facility since 1986. In the past four decades, Britannia Lodge has been renovated twice, once in 1992 and then again in 2012. Our first renovation in 1992 saw the Facility transform from a run-down institutionalized asylum, to a completely re-built home-like building, where our residents have all the comforts of home. The reconstruction process was so substantial that we had to physically move our residents and staff to a temporary facility for one year.

In 2012, Britannia Lodge underwent an expansion, where we grew from a 45 bed facility to a 65 bed facility. The expanded section of the Facility is designated as a heritage site by the City of Vancouver, and was awarded The Heritage Restoration Award due to its architectural design and the preservation of a heritage building.

CLASSIFICATION OF BRITANNIA LODGE

Britannia Lodge is classified as a Specialised Residential Care Facility, meaning that clients who require mental health support are referred to us by Vancouver Coastal Health. Our staff is continually being trained and educated in order to meet the requirements of caring for residents in a Specialised Care Home.
